Sheerline Classic Aluminium Doors

Hurworth-on-Tees, County Durham

The Property

This impressive property in Hurworth-on-Tees combines traditional architectural detailing with a beautifully finished contemporary living space. Large windows overlook the landscaped gardens, making natural light and the connection between the house and its outdoor surroundings an important part of the room.

The existing timber doors suited the traditional character of the property, but the homeowners wanted to update the main garden opening with something more contemporary while remaining sympathetic to the style of the house.

The Requirement

The brief was to remove the existing timber doors and replace them with a modern aluminium system that would improve the appearance of the opening without looking out of place alongside the property’s traditional windows and detailing.

A key consideration was maintaining the distinctive Georgian-style appearance. The new doors therefore needed carefully proportioned glazing bars and slim frames, while providing the durability, performance and low-maintenance benefits of aluminium.

The homeowners also wanted to maximise the view into the garden and create a stronger visual connection between the living space and patio.

The Solution

We installed Sheerline Classic aluminium doors, using a dark finish to create an elegant contrast against the property’s light exterior.

The slim aluminium profiles provide significantly cleaner sightlines while the glazing-bar configuration complements the existing windows and preserves the character of the property. From inside, the new doors frame the landscaped garden beautifully and allow natural light to become a much stronger feature of the room.

The finished installation brings together traditional styling and contemporary aluminium performance, creating a feature that feels entirely at home within the property while giving the living space a noticeably more modern finish.
