Sheerline Classic Project – Eastby, North Yorkshire
The Property
Set in the North Yorkshire village of Eastby, this property underwent an extensive redevelopment designed to transform and significantly expand the existing home. The project included substantial rear and side extensions, creating a larger, brighter and more contemporary living environment while retaining an appearance sympathetic to the character of the property and its surroundings.
With the building being comprehensively remodelled, the glazing formed an important part of the overall architectural design. The new windows, doors and roof glazing needed to work consistently across both the original property and the new extensions, giving the completed house a cohesive finish.
The Requirement
The brief called for a complete glazing solution that would combine slim, contemporary sightlines with strong thermal performance and a high-quality finish.
A consistent window and door system was required throughout the property, suitable for the different openings created as part of the redevelopment. The homeowners also wanted to maximise natural daylight within the extended living areas, particularly where the new rear extension increased the depth of the internal space.
Roof glazing therefore formed a key part of the specification. As well as bringing daylight into the heart of the home, the roof lantern needed to provide convenient ventilation without compromising the clean appearance of the finished installation.
The Solution
The Sheerline Classic window and door system was specified throughout the property, creating a consistent architectural style across the original building and the substantial new extensions. Its slim aluminium profiles complement the contemporary redevelopment while providing the clean detailing and expansive areas of glass required for the project.
For the rear extension, a Sheerline S1 roof lantern was installed to introduce natural light from above and create a striking focal point within the new living space. The lantern was also specified with a remote-controlled Sheervent opener, allowing ventilation to be easily controlled without the need to manually access the roof glazing.
Together, the Classic windows and doors and S1 roof lantern provide a coordinated aluminium glazing package across the entire redevelopment. The result is a bright, contemporary home where the glazing helps connect the original property with its new rear and side extensions, while the roof lantern brings additional light and practical ventilation into the heart of the enlarged living space.
