Why choose aluminium roof glazing?
Why aluminium is the smarter long-term choice
Aluminium offers the strength needed for slimmer frames and larger glazed areas, helping you bring in more daylight without compromising durability. Marlin’s roof glazing systems are built to combine aesthetics, security and thermal efficiency in one specification. The current page already highlights slim sightlines, thermal technology, PAS24-related security claims and durable powder-coated finishes.
Key benefits:
- More glass, less frame for brighter interiors
- Thermally efficient designs to help keep heat in
- High-security construction for greater peace of mind
- Low-maintenance powder-coated aluminium
- Made-to-measure options for bespoke projects

Frequently Asked Questions
Do aluminium rooflights make the room cold?
Not anymore. Older systems often suffered from condensation, but our modern aluminium rooflights use Thermlock® technology (thermal breaks) and high-performance Low-E glass. This ensures they are highly energy-efficient, with U-values of 1.0 or better and meet all current building regulations.
Are glazed roofs secure?
Absolutely. Security is a priority for us. Our S1 Lantern is accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative. We use laminated safety glass and anti-tamper construction methods to keep your home safe.
Can I see the products before I buy?
Yes. We believe you should experience the quality firsthand. We invite you to visit our showroom in Keighley to operate the windows and see the slim sightlines for yourself.
What’s the difference between a rooflight and a roof lantern?
A rooflight has a flat profile against a window and may still open and close. These can be fitted to either flat or pitched roofs.
A roof lantern’s profile is raised above the roof height, allowing for maximum light into the space below.
Do you need planning permission for rooflights?
For flat rooflights, you generally do not need planning permission, as this would be covered under permitted development.
Raised roof lanterns may need permission for existing flat roofs, due to height restrictions. If in doubt, please speak to our team to discuss. This is not the case for new extensions as this would be covered by the extension’s rules.
