Materials & Expertise
Built on Strength. Defined by Precision.
Exceptional floor-to-ceiling glazing starts with the right materials and the expertise to make the most of them.
The Material
Why We Use Aluminium
Lightweight yet exceptionally strong, aluminium is ideal for creating the large, slim frames required for floor-to-ceiling windows.
Its natural resistance to corrosion means lasting performance with minimal maintenance. Aluminium is also endlessly recyclable, making it a considered choice for contemporary glazing.

What to consider when choosing floor-to-ceiling windows:
1. Wow factor design feature
Floor-to-ceiling windows can make for a stunning architectural feature. As well as offering outstanding views, our quality and craftsmanship look the part too. We offer floor-to-ceiling windows in a wide range of made-to-measure styles, suitable for most homes.

Products Available for Floor-to-Ceiling Windows
We offer a range of aluminium glazing systems specifically designed for dramatic full-height installations, delivering maximum light, uninterrupted views, and outstanding structural performance.
2. Combining floor to ceiling windows with doors
Full height ceiling windows naturally match with full height sliding or bi-fold doors. If you have a house extension with views to be maximised then combining floor to ceiling windows and doors works incredibly well.
View examples of this in the Marlin Windows Ilkley new build and Thorpe Hall installations featured below.
3. Cost of floor to ceiling windows
All our windows are made-to-measure for each project from high-quality aluminium. This provides outstanding quality but makes it difficult to estimate price as it varies greatly on the size, style and application you choose. If you’d like a detailed quote, speak to our team.
4. Privacy and Shading
Floor-to-ceiling windows create a feeling of real openness. This expands views and brings in lots of light but can make you feel exposed. Should you wish to overcome this we have options that include tinted glass and integral blinds to provide you with privacy.
About SunGuard
SunGuard is a glass product designed to control solar gain. It is particularly useful in locations with a high exposure to the sun, helping to control the build-up of heat inside the property and protecting delicate furnishings by reducing harmful UV rays.
About integral blinds
Integral blinds are fitted inside the cavity of the double-glazed sealed unit and are therefore protected from dust, meaning they never need to be cleaned.
Tinted glass is also available for privacy as an alternative to integral blinds

5. Thermal properties
Look for thermally broken aluminium profiles with double-glazed sealed units that have a centre pane U Value of 1.2 W/m2 or lower.
Our glass is exclusively manufactured by Guardian Glass, which we chose because of its exceptional natural daylight light transmission, energy-saving thermal insulation, and solar control.

6. Transform darker spaces
Unlock the full potential of your home by introducing an abundance of natural light. Enlarging existing openings allows sunlight to flow effortlessly through your rooms, transforming darker areas into bright, open, and inviting living spaces. The result is a home that feels more spacious, more modern, and far more connected to the outdoors.
7. Glass size
VOnce the realm of commercial buildings, larger double-glazed sealed units can now be specified for residential projects to meet domestic building regulation compliance for large glass areas.
Discuss your project with a friendly Marlin Technical Advisor to find out what is possible.
8. Safety & Security
At Marlin, we use toughened glass as standard, ensuring all windows are highly secure. Laminated glass is also available as an option or as part of the latest compliance for certain glazing elements of a new build construction in the UK.
