Heritage aluminium windows and doors at Wolfreton Lodge, Kirk Ella

Customer Experience · Kirk Ella

We used Marlin for windows and steel style doors and internal screens using Alitherm Heritage products on our recent self build project. Marlin are not local to us but provided an excellent service from quotation, advice, redesigns and with very detailed comms throughout. The windows and doors are the talking point of our entire build. Adrian from Marlin said that windows become the eyes of the house and I didn’t forget that – our eyes are simply stunning. Would highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you require any support, please don’t hesitate to review our FAQ’s below or drop us a message on our contact form here

How slim are Heritage aluminium window frames?

Our Alitherm Heritage windows feature exceptionally slim sightlines, with fixed outer frames as narrow as 33mm. Designed to replicate the appearance of traditional steel windows, they maximise natural light while maintaining an authentic heritage look. Frame dimensions vary depending on the system and opening configuration.

Are Heritage windows and doors suitable for listed buildings and conservation areas?

The Heritage slim systems have already been approved for listed building projects by many councils including:

London Boroughs of Islington, Camden and Tower Hamlets, Watford Borough Council, Essex County Council and Leeds City Council as well as Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.

How energy-efficient are Heritage windows and doors?

Our thermally broken Heritage aluminium systems combine traditional styling with modern energy efficiency. Depending on the product and glazing specification, certain configurations can achieve whole-unit U-values as low as 1.2 W/m²K. We can advise on the appropriate system and thermal performance for your project.

Can aluminium Heritage windows replace traditional steel windows?

Yes. Our Alitherm Heritage range is specifically designed to recreate the slim proportions and distinctive appearance of traditional steel windows. It offers a practical, low-maintenance alternative while retaining the character of period properties, Art Deco homes and industrial-style glazing.

Can I choose different colours, glazing bars and window styles?

Yes. Our Heritage windows and doors are made to measure, with a choice of configurations, glazing bar arrangements and powder-coated finishes. Whether you’re recreating an original steel window design or introducing heritage styling into a modern extension, we can help you achieve the right appearance.

Do you offer supply-only or installation services for Heritage windows and doors?

Yes. Marlin Windows offers both supply-only and professional installation services for Heritage aluminium windows and doors. Whether you’re working with your own builder or would prefer our experienced team to manage the installation, we can help you find the right solution for your project.
